We have a variety of vegetable starter plants available in early spring for planting your home vegetable gardens. We also have fertilizers and other garden care products to get your northwest Ohio vegetable gardens off to a growing start!
Our greenhouses are filled with a great selection of vegetables to plant in your home garden that are perfect for the Toledo area. Some of these plants include:
Bell Peppers: red bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, orange bell peppers and purple bell peppers.
Mild / Sweet Peppers: sweet banana peppers, Poblano- a mild spiced pepper.
Hot Peppers: jalapeño, Hungarian hot, habanero, cayenne peppers, Serrano pepper and ghost peppers.
Cold Crop Plants: candy onions, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, kohlrabi, spinach, red cabbage, green cabbage, rhubarb and strawberries - June-Bearing strawberries and Ever- Bearing strawberries.
Tomatoes: We usually have about 10 varieties of slicing tomato plants, including golden jubilee tomatoes, better boy tomatoes and early girl tomatoes. We also carry Roma tomato plants, cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes and more. These plants are in starter flats and many come as larger, container plants. Tomatoes truly are easy to grow and are one of the best vegetables to grow in containers or in a home garden area. Tomatoes need plenty of water, sun and little care. They supply a nice crop from plants over their growing season.
Warm Crop Vine Plants: zucchini, cucumber, pickles, yellow squash, acorn, butternut, eggplant, cantaloupe and watermelon.
Herbs: basil, thyme, dill, oregano, marjoram, sage, cilantro, chives and parsley.
Come in early in the season as these plants sell out quickly!
"I always wanted a garden for our family. Thanks to the quality vegetable plants at Keil's in Swanton, we now eat healthier by having our own vegetables on hand, grown in our very own home garden. I was surprised that gardening was pretty easy and really fun too! It's a great way to get the kids involved with planting and picking the veggies. And, if we want a particular vegetable we didn't grow ourselves, we just head to Keil's for their own home grown produce."
